Before you blame the module, rule out the flex cable and a software fault — they explain a third of cases. Passing the stock camera app is not enough — check a third-party app too, because firmware mismatches show up there. Grade A modules use original-spec sensors and optics, which makes them effectively indistinguishable from factory parts. Each Galaxy A33 module is bench-tested for focus and stabilisation before it ships.

Grading modules honestly is what keeps a repair shop from swapping a good part to chase a fault that was never in the camera.

Specs and checks that matter

• Grading: Modules are graded A, B or C, and the grade is stated
• Three-way match: Sensor, autofocus and connector all have to match the handset — one mismatch reads as a fault
• Connector types: ZIF and board-to-board connectors are not interchangeable
• Misdiagnosis: A share of "camera faults" are actually flex or software problems, not the module
• Bench test: Focus and stabilisation are checked on a handset before a lot ships

What is the connector check?

Confirm the connector style first: a ZIF module cannot seat in a board-to-board socket, whatever the other specs say.

Is the optical stabilisation real?

On genuine-grade modules yes; on cheap aftermarket units stabilisation is often simulated, so the frame still shakes under video.

What testing is done?

Focus, stabilisation and connector seating are tested on each module before shipping.

How should modules be handled before install?

Keep them in anti-static packing and never force the connector — misalignment can break the solder joint on the board.
