Camera Modules — wholesale buying guide (iPhone 13 to iPhone 13 Pro)

A camera module has to match on three levels at once — sensor, autofocus system and connector layout — and a mismatch on any one means it will not work even if it fits. Before you blame the module, rule out the flex cable and a software fault — they explain a third of cases. A module that passes a photo test can still fail in a third-party app, so the compatibility check belongs in the QC step. Grade A modules use original-spec sensors and optics, which makes them effectively indistinguishable from factory parts.

Grading modules honestly is what keeps a repair shop from swapping a good part to chase a fault that was never in the camera.

Specs and checks that matter

  • Grading: Modules are graded A, B or C, and the grade is stated
  • Three-way match: Sensor, autofocus and connector all have to match the handset — one mismatch reads as a fault
  • Connector types: ZIF and board-to-board connectors are not interchangeable
  • Bench test: Focus and stabilisation are checked on a handset before a lot ships
  • Misdiagnosis: A share of "camera faults" are actually flex or software problems, not the module

Buyer questions

What testing is done?

Focus, stabilisation and connector seating are tested on each module before shipping.

What is the handling rule for camera modules?

Anti-static packing at all times, and never force the connector — a bent pin can damage the board.

Will it match my model?

Sensor, AF and connector all have to line up; send the model and we confirm the correct module.

What causes blurry photos after a replacement?

Usually a focus calibration or lens alignment issue, though dust on the sensor or a firmware mismatch can look identical.
