Buying rear housings and back glass in bulk (iPhone 15 to iPhone 15 Pro)

A rear housing job is not one repair — it is a choice between swapping the whole assembly and separating the glass from the mid-frame. On the iPhone 8 to 13 the glass is glued to the frame across the whole panel, so it will not lift off without a laser separator or heat. Not every 14-series model moved to the repairable design — the 14 Pro and Pro Max still use the bonded rear. On iPhone 15 the glass is adhered to the frame, so a full housing swap is frequently quicker than separating the glass.

Rear glass and frame adhesive are sold together for a reason — a housing without the adhesive is an incomplete repair.

Specs and checks that matter

  • Bonding: On iPhone 8 through 13 the rear glass is adhered to the mid-frame, so glass-only work needs laser separation
  • Repair routes: Full housing swap, or laser-separating the rear glass and bonding a new one
  • Design change: From iPhone 14 onward the rear is more serviceable (14 Pro and Pro Max still use the bonded structure)
