A camera module has to match on three levels at once — sensor, autofocus system and connector layout — and a mismatch on any one means it will not work even if it fits. OIS rides on aligned coils; budget modules often fake it and the frame still shakes on video. A module that passes a photo test can still fail in a third-party app, so the compatibility check belongs in the QC step. Motorola Camera Modules modules are focus-tested and stabilisation-checked on a real handset before dispatch.

Connector families are not interchangeable, so a module photographed from the front can still be the wrong part for the board.

Specs and checks that matter

• Bench test: Focus and stabilisation are checked on a handset before a lot ships
• Misdiagnosis: A share of "camera faults" are actually flex or software problems, not the module
• Three-way match: Sensor, autofocus and connector all have to match the handset — one mismatch reads as a fault
• Connector types: ZIF and board-to-board connectors are not interchangeable
• Grading: Modules are graded A, B or C, and the grade is stated

Is the module tested before shipping?

Each module is function-tested for focus, stabilisation and connector seating before a lot clears.

What is the handling rule for camera modules?

Anti-static packing at all times, and never force the connector — a bent pin can damage the board.

Does the OIS actually work?

On Grade A and OEM modules yes; on the cheapest aftermarket units it is frequently simulated.

How do I know it will fit?

The sensor, autofocus and connector must all match the handset — send the model and we confirm the exact module.
